It's been a long time coming, but Tyga has finally released his Young Money debut, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, and to celebrate, the L.A. spitter will visit "RapFix Live" on Wednesday (February 29).

It hasn't been an easy road for Tyga, who released his independent debut LP, No Introduction, in 2008, but after hooking up with Lil Wayne's YMCMB crew, he has amassed a series of wins. His biggest single, "Rack City," has already peaked at #3 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart and spawned a high-profile remix featuring T.I., Young Jeezy, Wale, Fabolous and Meek Mill.

While tracks like the Lil Wayne-assisted "Faded" and "King & Queens" featuring Wale and Nas have fans excited about the album, which was released February 21, there is still some controversy surrounding the release. It seems Tyga failed to clear a sample from Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech and the physical CD was pulled from major retail chains like Best Buy and Target. The snafu will no doubt put a dent in Tyga's first-week sales, but he is still projected to sell about 75,000 copies digitally.

Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth will also appear on this week's "RapFix Live" to make a special announcement. Emerging from the underground rap crew the Screwed Up Click, Trae has made quite a name for himself in the streets. With a number of solo albums, mixtapes and collaboration LPs like 2003's A--holes by Nature, with Z-Ro, Trae has become one of the most respected MCs in the game. His 2011 LP Street King featured contributions from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Wyclef Jean and Wiz Khalifa, to name a few. Now Trae is ready to take a new step in his career, but you have to tune in to "RapFix Live" on Wednesday to find out.

Finally, DJ Whoo Kid is set to hit the famous red couch with newly inked G-Unit Signee Paris. Fans may have heard the femcee spitting on 50 Cent's latest mixtape project, Big 10.

Catch Tyga, DJ Whoo Kid and Trae tha Truth on "RapFix Live" Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtags #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists to @MTVRapFiX!

Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me' Joins All-Time Great Kiss-Offs

Singers from Adele to Justin Timberlake have sung stinging goodbyes.

<P>The breakup song is a rite of passage for just about every singer. Mostly, they're sad-sack anthems about moving on, but every so often, the wound is raw enough that the artist is inspired to issue their former lover a cutting message: I'm better off without you. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:733147.id:1679087" width="240" height="211"></div><p> That's what <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a> seems to be doing with her new single <a href="/news/articles/1679098/grammy-awards-katy-perry.jhtml">"Part of Me,"</a> which she premiered at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammy Awards</a> on Sunday. With lyrics like "Days like this I want to drive away/ Pack bags and watch your shadow fade/ You chewed me up and spit me out like I was poison in your mouth/ You took my life, you drank me down/ But that was then and this is now," it's pretty clear she is dressing down her ex, Russell Brand, and has no intention of beating around the bush. Need less-obtuse lyrical evidence that the song is about Brand? Later, she sings, "You can keep the diamond ring, it don't mean nothing anyway/ In fact, you can keep everything, except for me." Perry has only exchanged rings with one gent, and that's Brand. But this isn't her first kiss-off track: On <i>Teenage Dream</i>, Perry laments a love gone wrong on "Circle the Drain," which she reportedly penned about her relationship with Travie McCoy. It doesn't present a flattering picture of her time with the Gym Class Heroes frontman. "You fall asleep during foreplay/ 'Cause the pills you take/ Are more your forte," Perry sings. "Wanna be your lover/ Not your f---ing mother/ Can't be your savior/ I don't have the power/ I'm not gonna stay and watch you circle the drain." <i>Ouch.</i> Whether "Part of Me" or "Circle the Drain" will stand the test of time to rank alongside the most-famous kiss-off songs in pop history remains to be seen, but Perry has certainly got people talking right now. From Gloria Gaynor's disco classic "I Will Survive" to George Michael's "Faith" and pretty much half the songs in Kelly Clarkson's catalog, it's a genre that could use a little fresh blood, though these five (relatively) recent additions to the cannon do a pretty solid job of holding down the jilted-and-not-having-it fort. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:21256.id:1679258" width="240" height="211"></div><p> <b>Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River" and "What Goes Around ... Comes Around"</b><BR> We're giving <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/timberlake_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Timberlake</a> a little extra shine on our kiss-off list because he did the genre justice by bringing the sex to it then coming back for more &#8212; which is a pretty good metaphor for how we'd like to break up with him. "What Goes Around" was in many ways a sequel to Timberlake's 2002 single "Cry Me a River," from his debut solo set, <i>Justified</i>. "River" details the dissolution of a relationship after his girl cheated on him and is <i>allegedly</i> a behind-the-scenes look at what really ended his three-year relationship with Britney Spears. "I'm not going to specifically say if any song is about anybody," Timberlake told MTV when asked who the ballad was about. "I will say writing a couple of songs on the record helped me deal with a couple of things." Noted. Timberlake returned to the post-Britney well for "What Goes Around," from 2006's <i>FutureSex/LoveSounds</i>, though for his second spin, the spurned heartthrob changed the message from "How could you?" to "You're gonna get yours." The lesson here is clear: Do not cheat on JT unless you would like several awesome pop songs assassinating your character penned in your honor. (And, really, wouldn't you rather be the subject of "LoveStoned"?) </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:604336.id:1679258" width="240" height="211"></div><p> <b>Adele, "Rolling in the Deep"</b><BR> While assembling this list, we tried to keep it to songs where we could identify the subject (i.e. Britney in "Cry Me a River," Carey Hart in Pink's "So What," which you'll find below), but we're making an exception for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>'s "Rolling in the Deep." The song is so ubiquitous after its many <a href="/news/articles/1679111/grammy-2012-adele-wins.jhtml">Grammy wins</a> and so famously about her ex that it is impossible to ignore. And while Adele has never spoken publicly about who the songs on her massive album <i>21</i> are about &#8212; and the guy has smartly never stepped forward to say, "Yeah, I'm the one who was pretty awful to the world's current favorite singer" &#8212; "Rolling in the Deep" is still without question the most-stinging kiss-off song in recent memory. The powerhouse vocalist doesn't sugarcoat her feelings, singing, "Finally, I can see you crystal clear/ Go 'head and sell me out and I'll lay your s--t bare/ See how I leave with every piece of you/ Don't underestimate the things that I will do." Depending how you look at it, Adele possibly offered up the harshest kiss-off ever in the history of sound. If it wasn't bad enough to have an album's worth of songs dedicated to how much you sucked as a boyfriend, we wonder what it feels like to watch that album go on to win six Grammys and sell close to 7 million copies, seemingly en route to becoming the first 10-time platinum album in the U.S. since Usher's 2004 <i>Confessions</i>. They say looking good is the best revenge (and she did that too, looking glam and trim on Grammy night), but we think Adele's critical and commercial success probably stings the hardest. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:266933.id:1679258" width="240" height="211"></div><p> <b>Pink, "So What"</b><BR> Our thoughts on success killing the game when it comes to slapping your ex in the figurative face also applies here: "So What," the lead single from <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/pink/artist.jhtml">Pink</a>'s fifth studio album, 2008's <i>Funhouse</i>, was the singer's first #1 hit. (Doesn't that seem strange? It's true though.) This song was written by Pink while she and Carey Hart were separated and the oft-brutally honest singer did not hold back when it came to taking shots at the motocross superstar. The song's chorus says it all: "So, so what/ I'm still a rock star, I got my rock moves/ And I don't need you/ And guess what, I'm having more fun/ And now that we're done, I'm gonna show you tonight/ I'm alright, I'm just fine/ And you're a tool/ So, so what/ I am a rock star, I got my rock moves/ And I don't want you tonight." Hart must be into that sort of thing, however, because he and Pink reunited not long after the song was recorded and he even good-naturedly cameos throughout the video. The pair now have a baby girl, Willow, and appear happier than ever. Maybe it took a good kiss-off for these two love birds to realize they couldn't live without each other. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:10580.id:1679258" width="240" height="211"></div><p> <b>Alanis Morissette, "You Oughta Know"</b><BR> In case you don't know already know, this angst classic is all about Dave Coulier, a comedian-actor best known as Joey Gladstone on the former ABC sitcom "Full House." Yes, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/morissette_alanis/artist.jhtml">Alanis Morissette</a> wonders if Uncle Joey is thinking about her when he's, you know, getting busy with his new girl. Eek. Once you know this song is about Coulier, it's difficult to watch "Full House" the same way. After all, we learn <i>an awful lot</i> about his relationship with the much-younger Morissette &#8212; including that we should probably give them a rundown on what you are and are <i>not</i> permitted to do in a movie theater. Sure, there are more-recent breakup tracks and, yes, we were trying to keep this list contemporary, but much like the end of a relationship gone sour, it's hard to shake a great kiss-off song. <i>What's your favorite kiss-off song? Tell us in the comments below!</i></p>

He reportedly listed "Men's Central Jail" and his booking number in the space on the appeal document where a lawyer would normally list a firm's name or contact information. TMZ also reported that although Murray seems to be without a lawyer, he is still in communication with Nareg Gourjian, one of the attorneys who represented him during his manslaughter trial. "This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer," Gourjian told TMZ. "Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him." Following the guilty verdict, Murray's lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told CNN, "What matters most right now is trying to keep Dr. Murray from taking up a prison cell in this community. That's what we're focusing on right now, and we'll deal with an appeal after that." <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">Murray was sentenced to four years</a> in jail Tuesday, but due to overcrowding, he's unlikely to serve his full term. </p></p>

Beyonce's First Post-Baby Appearance Was Picture-'Perfect'

'It's perfect for this private couple,' one celebrity expert tells MTV News of B's low-key NYC outing.
By Jocelyn Vena

Beyonce leaves 40/40 Club in New York City

<P>It was only a month ago that fans were wondering when the first images of new mom <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a> might hit the Net. On Monday night, those questions were answered. Just four weeks after giving birth to daughter <a href="/news/articles/1677033/blue-ivy-beyonce-jay-z-leaves-hospital.jhtml">Blue Ivy</a>, B was back on the scene to celebrate hubby <a href="/news/articles/1678669/jay-z-carnegie-hall.jhtml">Jay-Z's first show at Carnegie Hall</a>. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:731725" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Wearing a form-fitting red dress, she hit up a post-show party held at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City. And while <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/07/beyonce-carnegie-hall-jay-z-show">Beyonc&#233; could have premiered</a> her <a href="/news/articles/1678670/beyonce-post-baby-appearance-jay-z.jhtml">post-baby body</a> on a splashy red carpet, celebrity experts note that the more understated move is very B. "It's perfect for this private couple. She didn't make a big deal walking a red carpet at an award show or posing on the cover of a magazine," Huffington Post celebrity columnist Rob Shuter told MTV News on Tuesday (February 7). "Beyonc&#233; made it as low-key an event as possible and at the same time plugged her husband's club." <b><a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/08/beyonce-photos-carnegie-hall-night-two/">Check out more photos from B's night out!</a></b> For the appearance, Beyonc&#233; was decked out in a fiery-red Temperley London dress, Christian Louboutin heels and an Alexander McQueen clutch. While that may sound very glam, another expert was surprised by just how modest the look actually was. "Beyonc&#233; looks amazing in her first post-baby appearance. Even thought it made sense for her to make her debut last night to show her support for her husband and the charity his concert benefited, her outfit was fairly simple," celebrity editor <a href="http://gossipdavid.com" target="_blank">David Caplan</a> said. "I expected her to make her post-baby debut at a really glitzy event or awards show, like maybe the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammys</a>, in a gorgeous gown and really steal the show. But clearly she wanted to be seen, since she even posted photos of herself right away on her website, which stars don't typically do &#8212; they'll just let the media pick up and run the photos." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724228.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> So, will B and Jay play it just as cool when it comes to releasing the first shot of their newborn? "It will be a [paparazzi] shot taken on the beach or when the couple is on vacation," Shuter predicted. "They won't reveal the baby to get a [magazine] cover like Bethenny [Frankel] or those other reality stars." Caplan also proposed that a baby photo will probably leak. "As for when will we see baby Blue, I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of grainy-looking paparazzi photo emerges," he said. "Those photographers are very crafty, even if Beyonc&#233; and Jay-Z think they're doing all they can to keep Blue away from photographers. But ultimately, I think you can expect to see her baby photos in a magazine pictorial, and that will be Blue's introduction to the world. That's the real reveal people want to see." <i>Are you looking forward to the first photos of Blue Ivy? Taylor Kitsch is making a major leap from small-screen sports hero Tim Riggins in "Friday Night Lights," to potential blockbuster action-movie star via three big-budget films: Disney's sci-fi fantasy "John Carter," "Battleship" and crime thriller "Savages." And just before he officially catapults to superstar status, he's answering your questions.

On Thursday, March 1, Kitsch will sit down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz to present a clip from his upcoming action adventure during "MTV First: John Carter." At 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV, Kitsch will introduce the clip, followed by a 30-minute interview that will continue on MTV.com, where Kitsch will answer more of your questions.

To get your question answered, all you have to do is send it via Twitter, using @MTVNews and the hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskKitsch.

"MTV First" will give you a chance to see a never-before-seen clip from "John Carter," eight days before it hits theaters on March 9.

Set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars), "John Carter" is the story of a war-weary former military captain (Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars, where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions among the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).

"There's kind of that stigma with big movies that it's just action," Kitsch told MTV News."But with this, it's really just the core of this guy and his journey of reinventing himself and finding himself again."

"John Carter" is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel "John Carter of Mars." The film will be released on March 9 in digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D.

Catch Taylor Kitsch Thursday, March 1, on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET, when he'll debut an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from "John Carter." Then head over to MTV.com for our 30-minute chat with Rudd and Aniston.

<P>Fox's song-and-dance series "Glee" is no stranger to a star-studded cameo or two, with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth all walking the halls of McKinley High during the past two and a half seasons. And as the show returns from a month-long hiatus, Gleeks aren't the only ones anticipating a few more famous faces. As star Chris Colfer told MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet, there's plenty to look forward to when New Directions warble again January 17. "Well, the Michael Jackson episode ...," Colfer answered when asked about his most-anticipated upcoming episodes. "We have a Spanish episode coming up with Ricky Martin. Believe it or not, when Oscar night 2013 rolls around, Batman could be donning his dress cape and walking the red carpet as a nominee.

Granted, no one has seen Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," yet, but it's not entirely outlandish to imagine it could have a big night at the Academy Awards next year. If Nolan sticks the landing, it could mean an unprecedented amount of awards consideration for the beloved series.

For an enormously successful movie franchise, Nolan's Batman films have a frighteningly disappointing number of Academy Awards wins and nominations: nine nods, two wins. That's right: Aside from Heath Ledger's well-earned Best Supporting Actor award, the only other Oscar for the series was for Best Sound Editing on "The Dark Knight."

We here at MTV News would love to see the legend end with a dark victory at the Academy Awards, so here are categories where "The Dark Knight Rises" could see nominations — you know, if it's any good.

Best Cinematography: Wally Pfister
Nolan's trusted cinematographer has been with him since the very beginning, shooting every major feature for Nolan since his breakout, "Memento." Pfister won his first Academy Award last year for "Inception," but for his next collaboration with Nolan, they're going even bigger. If the prologue is any indication, IMAX's role in "Rises" will be unlike anything we've ever seen, embracing the large format in new and exciting ways. With IMAX getting a push as the new trendy technology to get people into theaters, Pfister and Nolan's role in embracing the format could spell an Oscar nomination.

Best Original Score: Hans Zimmer
It doesn't get more ambitious than collecting the chanting of thousands of people around the world and incorporating it into a film's score. Zimmer's worldwide vision for his third time scoring a Batman movie could mark his 10th nomination and his second for a Nolan movie. Sadly, a disqualification due to stiff category rules may be likely.

Best Director: Christopher Nolan
If the Academy collectively loves anything, it's certainly fond of paying old debts. They'll award artists who should have won years ago (Scorsese), and they'll award overall achievements ("Return of the King" wins everything). By the end of all this, Nolan will have done something for the ages. He legitimized a genre and restored an American icon to his rightful place. Not only that, he made two (and hopefully three) excellent and ambitious movies. This is the year you reward him for his efforts and heal the wounds of two egregious snubs for "The Dark Knight" and "Inception."

Best Actor: Christian Bale
Here's a wonderful fact about the age we live in: A very recent Oscar winner is playing Batman. One of the greatest actors of a generation is playing one of the most iconic heroes of all time. That fact alone at the very least puts Christian Bale in the mix. But knowing Nolan, he's not just going to put Bale up against a new set of villains, a flaw of the last set of Batman films. He's going to tell a story about Batman, one that's going to push the hero and the man playing him to the edge.

Best Picture
Could "The Dark Knight Rises" be the next "Return of the King"? The only problem there is that the Academy nominated each "Lord of the Rings" film individually before the finale won the big prize. Nolan's Batman films have always found themselves just outside awards consideration, the closest calling coming after "The Dark Knight" in 2009. Many pointed to "The Dark Knight" as a reason for the expansion of the Best Picture category the following year, so with 10 potential nominees now, statistically, it may finally be its year.

What Oscars do you think Nolan's Batman franchise should have already won? Let me know via Twitter @KPSull!

Justin Bieber Prepping Second Book

'Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started' is due for release in September.

<P>While they eagerly await the release of his upcoming album, <I>Believe</I>, Beliebers will have to make do with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml"_blank">Justin Bieber's</a> upcoming photo book. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1672718" width="240" height="211"></div><p> According to the <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/earshot/justin-bieber-just-getting-started-book-deal-harpercollins-293499" target="_blank"><I>Hollywood Reporter</I>,</a> "Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started" is scheduled for release in September. The singer's second official photo book comes on the heels of "First Step 2 Forever: My Story," which was released in October 2010 and sold more than one million copies in 25 languages. The new book will include information about the 17-year-old singer's most recent tour and the making of his record-breaking concert documentary, "Never Say Never," as well as the sessions for <I>Believe</I>. Among the bold-faced names that have popped in so far to lay down tracks for that album are <a href="/news/articles/1647665/justin-bieber-drake-have-canadian-reunion-at-vmas.jhtml">fellow Canadian Drake,</a>&#8232; who has long wanted to work with the pop star. <a href="/news/articles/1673221/justin-bieber-kanye-west-drake-next-album.jhtml">Kanye West</a>&#8232; is also reportedly slated to contribute to the disc, which is scheduled for release later this year. Super-producers Pharrell, <a href="/news/articles/1677263/justin-bieber-will-i-am-believe.jhtml">will.i.am</a>&#8232; and rapper Lil Wayne are among the other names that have been tossed about as possible collaborators. <I>Believe</I> is the follow-up to the Christmas-themed <I>Under the Mistletoe</I>, which was released in late 2011. Given his advancing age and the influence of a new group of collaborators, the effort is promising to be a step in a new direction for the multiplatinum teen idol. "The only conversation we've had about Justin's album that we're about to do is it's really important that it's the proper transition, because we've seen him [with] 'Baby,' now we're watching him grow up," Bieber's longtime vocal producer, <a href="/news/articles/1675015/justin-bieber-new-album.jhtml">Kuk Harrell,</a>&#8232; told MTV News in November. "And we can't just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. There's a record in between." In the meantime, fans will have to settle for watching Bieber help re-launch MTV's iconic <a href="/news/articles/1678777/punkd-premiere-justin-bieber-miley-cyrus.jhtml">"Punk'd"</a>&#8232; hidden-camera show, which relaunches next month with a rotating slate of guest hosts.</p>

Lindsay Lohan To Host 'SNL' For First Time Since 2006

Actress will return to 'Saturday Night Live' on March 3 with musical guest Jack White.

<P><P>Live from New York, it's <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lohan_lindsay/artist.jhtml">Lindsay Lohan</a>! The embattled actress will host "Saturday Night Live" on March 3, the show has confirmed. This will be the fourth time she takes the "SNL" stage, where she'll be joined by musical guest Jack White. In a <a href="http://articles.cnn.com/2012-02-19/entertainment/showbiz_lindsay-lohan-snl_1_judge-stephanie-sautner-steve-honig-lohan-tweeted?_s=PM:SHOWBIZ" target="_blank">statement</a> to CNN, her rep said, "Lindsay is very much looking forward to hosting SNL and working with the incredible cast, crew and writers to put on a memorable show." Her probation restrictions end in March, just in time for her to host. Meanwhile sources told <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/19/lindsay-lohan-saturday-night-live/#.T0OgFodmIsc" target="_blank">TMZ</a> that Lohan called up "SNL" head honcho Lorne Michaels asking if she could host an episode this season. After several conversations, Michaels and Lohan settled on the March date. The source added that Lohan has always loved hosting the show and looks to Michaels as a father figure. Since Lohan first hosted "SNL" back in 2004 at the tender age of 17, the actress has been through quite a lot, including multiple court appearances and several jail stints. In the years since, she's had a hard time reigniting her once-thriving movie career. Most recently she was attached to a movie about mobster <a href="/news/articles/1662419/lindsay-lohan-gotti.jhtml">John Gotti</a>. She last hosted "SNL" in 2006. While Lohan has had a hard time booking movie gigs, she did make headlines when she appeared in <a href="/news/articles/1676198/lindsay-lohan-playboy-record-sales.jhtml"><i>Playboy</i> in December</a>. In the issue, the actress opened up about her public woes. "Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people whom I admire and would have followed through with it more," she said. "My stubbornness at 18 and 19 years old got in the way. During the past five years, I've learned that time flies faster than you think, and because you only live once, you have to learn from your mistakes, live your dreams and be accountable." <i>Will Lindsay Lohan make a good "SNL" host? Leave your comment below.</i></p></p>

Esperanza Spalding Dazzles With Oscar Performance

Singer who beat Justin Bieber at 2011 Grammys sings moving version of 'What a Wonderful World' during In Memoriam tribute.
By Jason Kaufman

Who was that woman singing that beautiful rendition of "What a Wonderful World" during the 2012 Oscars In Memoriam tribute? None other than the woman who broke Justin Bieber's heart last winter: Esperanza Spalding.

Last year, Spalding beat out sure bets like Bieber, Florence and the Machine and Drake when she won the Best New Artist prize at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Spalding's biggest claim to fame since the win had been when her Wikipedia page was attacked by rabid Bieber fans following her victory.

Since last February, Spalding has managed to fly under the radar. This March she plans to get back on the scene and release her new album, Radio Music Society, her follow-up to Chamber Music Society, the 2010 album that brought her to national attention at the Grammys last year.

But before that came a haunting showcase.

Spalding's beautiful take on the Louis Armstrong standard was the perfect accompaniment to a moving In Memoriam tribute. Spalding stood in front of a choir as her voice lifted in the Kodak Theatre while the names and faces of Hollywood legends lost were projected in stark black and white behind her.

It was a performance that allowed millions to see what Grammy voters had already seen in her last year.

Spalding's Grammy victory was particularly hard on Bieber, who spoke to MTV News shortly after the loss.

"I had no clue what was going to happen; I worked really hard these past few years, and you know, I'm not going to lie — I was disappointed," Bieber told MTV News at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last year. "But, you know, I'm gonna come back [next year] and we'll take a few home. ... I'm inspired to work harder than I did last year. It's going to be hard, but I'm going to try."

Lindsay Lohan Released After Four Hours in Jail

Actress spent less than five hours behind bars after receiving 30-day sentence.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/207177/personmain.jhtml">Lindsay Lohan</a> was in and out of jail on Sunday night in Los Angeles. No, the troubled actress did not run afoul of the law again, she checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood to begin her 30-day jail sentence for violating her probation. But due to the chronic overcrowding in L.A. jails, according to <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2011/11/07/lindsay-lohan-released-from-jail/#.TrfZDmDv36Q" target="_blank">TMZ</a>, Lohan arrived at 8:48 p.m. and was released less than five hours later at around 1:30 a.m. This was Lohan's fifth trip to jail since her first arrest for drunken driving in 2007. Lohan was sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating her probation after a judge ruled that she failed to attend the appropriate amount of court-mandated therapy sessions and for getting removed from a community-service gig. The "Mean Girls" actress was in court last week where she admitted to violating the terms of her probation from a theft case by getting booted from a community-service assignment at the Downtown Women's Center. Judge Stephanie Sautner was adamant that she would not put up with any more slip-ups from Lohan, telling her, "This is known as putting the keys to jail in the defendant's pocket ... the first time you violate, you will go to jail." Lohan will have to serve 12 days at the Los Angeles County morgue -- where she's already been logging some time -- and then attend four therapy sessions by December 14. Sautner warned that if Lohan does not meet all those conditions, she will put a warrant out for her arrest and sentence her to an additional 270 days in jail. Sautner revoked Lohan's probation in October following the revelation that the actress had not completed her obligations from a 2011 arrest on theft charges. Lohan was given a few extra days to report to jail after the judge agreed to give her time to complete her nude photo shoot for <I>Playboy</I> magazine.</p>

Angelina Jolie Supports Brad Pitt, Misses Mom At Oscars

'My mom always loved the show,' actress recalls on the red carpet.
By Tami Katzoff

For Angelina Jolie, Oscar night is a bittersweet occasion. She told MTV News that the first thing that comes to mind when she thinks Oscar is "how much it meant to my mom, when she was alive. My mom always loved the show." Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 at age 56 from ovarian cancer.

But on the red carpet Sunday night (February 26), there was also much to celebrate for Jolie. The actress was supporting her partner, Brad Pitt, a best-actor nominee for his role as baseball manager Billy Beane in "Moneyball." And as a producer of the film, Pitt could also take home a statuette for Best Picture.

According to Jolie, Pitt is already a winner. "It's really about the film," she said. "When you get the film out, and the film's received well, then it's a success. And then tonight is going to be the icing on the cake, but either way the film is great and so he's proud. And he should be."

In all, "Moneyball" was nominated for six Oscars, including best Actor in a Supporting Role for Jonah Hill and Best Adapted Screenplay. Pitt is also featured in another Best Picture nominee, Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life."

Jolie herself is no stranger to the Academy Awards stage. She won the best supporting actress Oscar in 2000 for her role in "Girl, Interrupted." And in 2009 she was nominated for best actress for "Changeling."

Jolie's father, Jon Voight, is also an Oscar winner. He won for his lead role in the 1978 film "Coming Home."

<P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:715720" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bubl&#233;, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> cut. JB then slowed things down with <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),"</a> leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. "God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. <i>Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>
